Muxía, the edge of the world and an earned sunset.
July 21: full day in Muxía, between symbolic arrival, sea, and preparation for the finale toward Finisterre/Santiago.
July 21 was one of those days that do not need big numbers to stay impressed. I was in Muxía, finally with my own “arrival” photo, and in the group there was a beautiful climate: crossed congratulations, jokes, stories from those already back home who still kept feeling part of the same Camino family.
During the day I saw Giselle again: we met in the morning and planned to meet again in the evening, with the idea of closing the day in front of the sunset. In between, the rhythm was the right one for Muxía: sea, long pauses, photos, and that end-of-journey sensation in which every detail seems to carry more weight than usual.
With Catherine we talked often: I sent her images of the place, she wrote that she wished she could be there. There was physical distance, but still a very alive connection, made of simple and sincere messages. Meanwhile I was also beginning to prepare the next step: the day after I would aim for Finisterre, to complete the “double finale” I had set in my mind.
The perfect closure came in the evening: a clean, full sunset, the kind that after weeks of Camino you almost feel as a reward. There I had the clear perception that the journey was changing phase: less conquest, more absorption of everything that had happened.
Coastal wind, smell of salt, warm light slowly dropping over the sea and forcing even your thoughts to slow down.
When you reach symbolic places like Muxía, it is not only about “having arrived there”: it is about the state of mind with which you arrive, and with whom you choose to share that moment.
