Birthday at altitude, in slow mode.
July 10: from O Cebreiro to O Poio, with arrival and stop at Albergue del Puerto.
After checkout from the pilgrims’ albergue, I lay down on a nearby meadow looking at the view: mat on the ground, total calm, full enjoyment of the moment. It was exactly the right day to slow down.
Catherine arrived between 11 and 12. From there we resumed our ritual: beer together, lunch, and then the whole afternoon together until evening in the same albergue, without hurry and without chasing anything.
We walked about 8 km and stopped in O Poio, at Albergue del Puerto.
At 18:38 we sent a message to the bike rental to book two bikes for the next day: the plan was to leave at 8:00 and reach Sarria by bike. The guy confirmed immediately, no problem.
Cool high-altitude air, soft grass under the mat, silence broken only by wind and the movement of arriving pilgrims.
Even on symbolic days there is no need for big numbers: sometimes the best choice is to remove pressure and truly enjoy the Camino.
If reading this diary makes you feel the Camino might be calling you, but you still need to clarify a few things, start with the free guide.
