Wine, promises, and relief for the tendons.
June 16: walking with Catherine, direction Los Arcos.
Catherine and I started walking again and, along the route, we stopped at Bodegas Irache for the famous wine fountain. We refilled the bottle even though it is not allowed: important note, it should not be done, do not do it. Once in Los Arcos I immediately took a photo of the sign including Ginger's walking stick, to send it to her as promised. In the meantime Thomas had arrived in Nájera.
The day passed between shared steps and that typical Camino mix: intimate moments and then sudden openings toward new groups.
The day after the "cherry dinner" the tendons were finally much better, almost perfect. After almost a week of discomfort, it was a huge relief: could it be that the protein from all those tiny cherry worms had put me back on my feet?
In the evening I was invited by a group of Italian guys, Matteo, Stefano, Maddalena, Antonella, and others: they had met on the Camino, but as the days went by they had become very close to one another, and from time to time I joined them whenever we happened to end up in the same town. I asked if I could also bring Giselle and Catherine. I do not know whether Catherine really had fun: she is very reserved and does not always feel comfortable among so many people. But they were nice and it was a good evening.
