Under the rain, from Asson to Arudy.
Route of the day from Asson to Arudy.
The rain went on all day, without a break, until arrival. The official stage should have been 19 km, but without realizing it I took a wrong direction and ended up in Louvie-Juzon, a village farther south and off route, adding a few extra kilometers. On top of that, I had phone issues because of the rainwater: at one point the powerbank stopped working and I panicked, because I use my phone a lot for photos, videos, and GPS. At first I thought the problem was the phone; only later did I understand it was the powerbank, and that relieved me a bit. But the phone died a few kilometers before I redirected toward Arudy, so I couldn't complete the app tracking. Between one stretch and another, I also found something curious and memorable: an advertisement for a restaurant/albergue written on a stone along the route.
Wet clothes, heavy steps, constant rain noise, and that subtle tension of checking the phone every few minutes.
When it rains all day, every small sign along the road can become a push to keep going.
Official Asson-Arudy stage (19 km), but with an unintentional detour toward Louvie-Juzon and a few extra kilometers. Continuous rain, phone issues due to water, and tracking interrupted before redirecting toward Arudy. At the Arudy albergue there were 4 of us: me, Maria from the first day, a nineteen-year-old French guy named Thomas (Toma), and an Israeli girl named Talia.
